Glad to see you around; i agree, knowledge shouldn't be copyrighted.

This was a good read, glad to see you on here.

Academics are already seeing the writing on the wall when it comes to the eventual death of the publishing system, despite the journals attempting to retain their monopoly as best they can.

The thing is, there core purpose and problem has not changed. A journal is a shared place where people in a domain know they can go to stay abreast with developments in their field. Reviewers are people tasked with spell checking. I read more tech blogs than CS papers.

Premises laid out, here's thought experiment: if you wrote up the details about whatever random thing it was you tried last week with sufficient information that the experiment could be replicated, would this blog be your own little journal?

I look forward to following your developments, stay great.

I felt this sentence as my own “Fuck it. I'ma just do that because it's beautiful.”

When I started my PhD I wanted to create wow things, now I'm just trying to finish on time.. what a waste of time. I need the feeling of freedom and the purpose of doing beautiful things again

Thank you for the reminder

Just found this today, and am planning to share it with 65 freshie biology students next week when classes start. I've approached out local makerspace about a bio lab more than once and haven't really gotten anywhere.

As an ex-Legions member I just wanted to say I found this article fascinating. I knew next to nothing about biohacking - thought it was a term relegated to sci-fi movies and video games like Cyberpunk where ripper docs could give you giants breasts that not only looked real but also could be used as rocket launchers. Ya, I know - super ignorant. How/where can I find a donation link or a PO Box to help support your cause? I'm no biohacker but I've always been opposed to the scholastic primates running our universities and colleges somehow sucking a small fortune out of students that could've got the same education for some late fees at the public library.

Thank you for doing this for us. I’m trying very hard to get up to speed fast as I can.

Josiah beautifully said, but lets don't stop at Biohacking the planet. Lets hack humans. Please read" Israeli intellectual Yuval Noah Harari claimed that humans are now hackable animals – adding that a combination of biological knowledge and sufficient computing power and data made this possible.

Harari, a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said during an interview: “Humans are now hackable animals. The idea that humans have this soul or spirit, they have free will and nobody knows what’s happening inside me – so whatever I choose whether in the election or in the supermarket, that’s my free will? That’s over.”

“Today, we have the technology to hack human beings on a massive scale. Everything is being digitalized [and] monitored.”

In a separate lecture, Harari explained how humans can be hacked through the equation B*C*D=AHH. “Biological knowledge, multiplied by computing power, multiplied by data – equals the ability to hack humans (AHH),” said the intellectual.

“If you know enough biology and you have enough computing power and data – you can hack my body, my brain and my life. You can understand me better than I understand myself. You can know my personality type, my political views and my deepest fears and hopes. And you can do that not just to me, but to everyone.”

I still remember in high school being invited to this special seminar in 1992 at the local community college. They taught us to use pipettes, agar gel, and enzymes to apply electrophoresis to some DNA and make those glow in the dark sequences like you see on TV! It blew my mind that a bunch of kids from Alabama could do this and I was surprised it took so long for anyone to do able to do this at home!

Thank you so much Dr. Z for writing this and all the work you do with TheOdin!

i share you frustration with academia... i had very similar experiences, even worse sometimes. but i dont agree with the notion that biohacking took after your public actions. it was just irresponsible. generally overstated results and lack of quality dont help to create anything better. brash and stylish is just an excuse for being to lazy to do it properly. i know many scientists who started their own labs, made solid products and their self made business around their own research. but they dont jump for media attention like you did. whats the gain of replacing the hierarchy cult of academia with same ego show but in a low budget pop version.

Dear Josiah:

i just have one question about immunity shots/vaccines.

for context, I was given immunity shots for my allergies from age 4 til 8 and again from 12 til 18.. every other day i had to have an immunity shot. . . so, as someone who has had a thousand immunity shots (and now in my 20s I am starting to have allergic reactions again), my only concern is if we arent overselling the efficiency of the shots?🤷🏻

Thanks and best luck

this is too awesome. I'm thankful people like you are able to get the word out.

Happy to read about early biohacking movement that was close to art production

The article is great, you're right, i think i should follow you more and learn how can i make a lab on my home. I started phd thinking that I could do wow things, but unfortunately, we take classes instead of labs, also the academy and ethical rules are frustrating when someone says you can't do it and blocks you, I guess I will be a biohacker in the future too

I am a big fan since a while, great work with odin school, cources and sharing the knowledge! Will keep following you here as well :)

Super well written man! I'm an electronics engineer and I'm a huge fan of you and the biohacking world. I too, believe that the progression of science is limited by bureaucracy and fear. It's unfortunate. And to hear that you were living in the future with the development of your own covid vaccine and couldn't share that with the world, is very frustrating. The world needs more people like you!

You're awesome. Nice to find you here.I got familiar with bio hacking from the Netflix documentary but no more really.

For who interested in bio hacking but knowing nothing is there any tutorial or sort of staff to kick off?
