This was a good read, glad to see you on here.

Academics are already seeing the writing on the wall when it comes to the eventual death of the publishing system, despite the journals attempting to retain their monopoly as best they can.

The thing is, there core purpose and problem has not changed. A journal is a shared place where people in a domain know they can go to stay abreast with developments in their field. Reviewers are people tasked with spell checking. I read more tech blogs than CS papers.

Premises laid out, here's thought experiment: if you wrote up the details about whatever random thing it was you tried last week with sufficient information that the experiment could be replicated, would this blog be your own little journal?

I look forward to following your developments, stay great.
